Youth Empowerment For Engaged Citizenship - Karachi University

Shehri-Citizens for a Better Environment (Shehri-CBE) successfully hosted a Knowledge Workshop featuring an Expert Panel Discussion at the Seminar Hall, Department of Public Administration, University of Karachi. The event was part of the ongoing project “Youth Empowerment for Engaged Citizenship”.

The workshop took place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The session focused on the work of not-for-profit and start-up organizations , with representatives engaging students about their work and experiences of urban governance in the city.

Panel Discussion Highlights

The Panel Discussion featured invited representatives, referred to as “informal players in the public policy arena”. This engagement aimed to build further knowledge and capacity in the youth for more informed and constructive interaction with these actors.

Panelists included:

  • Mrs. Amra Javed (Executive Member, Shehri-CBE)

  • Zahid Farooq (Joint Director, Urban Resource Center (URC))

  • Zareen Rashid (Head of Livelihoods Department, Rana Liaquat Craftsman Colony Welfare Project (RLCC))

  • Kashif Anthony (Coordinator, National Commission for Justice & Peace (Sindh))

The discussion was moderated by Farhan Anwar, Project Manager for Shehri-CBE and Assistant Professor of Practice at Habib University.
