On 9 July 2026, Shehri – Citizens for a Better Environment (Shehri-CBE) organized an educational exposure visit to the HUNAR Foundation (Korangi Campus), Karachi, for students from the Department of Mass Communication, University of Karachi. The visit was conducted under Component 2: Voices of Democracy – A Civic Media Fellowship, part of the Youth Empowerment for Engaged Citizenship initiative, with the aim of exposing students to the role of technical and vocational education in youth empowerment, employability, and social development.
During the visit, participants explored the HUNAR Foundation’s modern training facilities and observed how technical and vocational education is delivered through practical, hands-on learning. Students toured the campus, visited project exhibitions, and interacted with instructors and trainees to gain a deeper understanding of the Foundation’s skill development programmes and its commitment to preparing young people for successful careers across various industries.
The visit also provided valuable insights into the Foundation’s partnerships with industry and its efforts to bridge the gap between education and employment. Students learned how industry-focused training, professional mentoring, and career-oriented programmes help improve employment opportunities while contributing to Pakistan’s economic and social development.
As media and mass communication students, participants also examined how a non-profit organization effectively communicates its mission through strategic communication, media engagement, public relations, and community outreach. The experience highlighted the importance of storytelling, awareness campaigns, and public engagement in promoting social impact, building institutional credibility, and encouraging community participation.
The educational visit concluded with networking opportunities, discussions with institutional leadership, and interactions with students and faculty, allowing participants to connect classroom learning with real-world development practices. Through this experiential learning activity, Shehri-CBE continued to strengthen students’ understanding of youth empowerment, civic engagement, skills development, and the role of communication in advancing social change.
