Habib University - Exposure Visit

Youth Empowerment For Engaged Citizenship - Habib University

Shehri-Citizens for a Better Environment (Shehri-CBE) successfully arranged an exposure visit for Habib University students to the Raana Liaquat Craftsmen’s Colony (RLCC) Office as part of the project “Youth Empowerment for Engaged Citizenship”.

The Exposure Visit took place on Friday, September 13, 2025, from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm at the RLCC Office in Shah Faisal Colony No. 2, Karachi. The visit achieved its goal of allowing students to learn about RLCC’s work in empowering marginalized communities

This visit was a key component of the “Youth Empowerment for Engaged Citizenship” project, which aims to build capacity in youth for informed civic activism and provide a model where academic learning facilitates knowledge of civic education and awareness of fundamental rights. Exposure visits, like the one to RLCC, offer students first-hand experience of how public institutions and non-governmental organizations function, helping to promote civic awareness and prepare young people to become informed and engaged citizens. The visit group included about  50 students.

The program included the following key activities:

  • An introduction and a brief on the working of RLCC by Zareen Majeed, Head of the Livelihoods Department.

  • A visit to the Vocational Training Centre.
