Youth Empowerment For Engaged Citizenship - Karachi University

Shehri-Citizens for a Better Environment (Shehri-CBE) successfully hosted a Knowledge Workshop featuring an Expert Panel Discussion at the Seminar Hall, Department of Public Administration, University of Karachi. The event was part of the ongoing project “Youth Empowerment for Engaged Citizenship”.

The workshop took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The session’s primary focus was the Legislative Branch of government.

Panel Discussion Highlights

The Panel Discussion brought together elected representatives from various tiers of governance to engage with participating students.

Panelists included:

  • Mr. Rehan Bandukda (Member Sindh Assembly)

  • Mr. Kaleemullah, Chairman TMC Safoora

  • Mr. Arshad Hussain Shah, Chairman UC-8, Safoora Town

  • Ms. Sanam Baloch, Chairperson UC-1, Gulshan Town

  • Mr. Muhammad Noman Khan, Chairman UC-5, Safoora Town/Spokesperson to the Opposition Leader in the City Council

The discussion was moderated by Farhan Anwar, Project Manager for Shehri-CBE and Assistant Professor of Practice at Habib University.

The discussion centered on:

  • Informing students about the policy-making process.

  • Sharing insights into the political parties’ missions and agenda.

  • Exploring how the policy-making process can be made more inclusive and participatory.

 

This engagement aimed to build further knowledge and capacity in the youth for more informed and constructive interaction with their elected representatives.
